1) The ANTHROPIC principle is what you were groping for there Jeremy.

2) Talking about the fine tuning argument is like a puddle saying 'Gee this hole fits me so amazingly perfectly, therefore god'. Thank you Douglas Adams.

3) And lastly I want to comment on the off the cuff comment from Erin about (paraphrasing, hopefully accurately, apologies if I got it wrong in a substantive way) 'I don't think it is necessary to believe things just for logical reason, I think Faith has a place':

Capital F Faith as I think was implied from the comment. The whole position expressed there makes me want to grind my teeth. And I find it difficult not to use pejoratives with regard to that position*. However my response to that would be that I prefer and try to believe in as many true things as possible and as few false ones as possible. Whenever Faith has come into conflict with logic and/or results gained from a critical examination of the facts at hand and/or the scientific method, ya know what? Faith has lost. Faith is not a virtue. Faith is not a good way to get at the truth of anything. Ever. Uuuuggghhhh Faith.

*Just wanting to make it clear that it is the idea I can't stand, not the person here. <3 for Erin.

Totes agree about Helen Clark. If our region does get a pick, I'd like to see her in the job.

"We recorded last night, before the Oz and Bill Leak hit a new low. Something for next week!"

You thought I was joking about the #SomethingWonkyEffect ... o_O
