This is astonishing.

Apparently he doesn't think he can keep his head down any longer. Tony abbott, of all people, is going to front an IPA crowd and tell them all they need to know about free speech.
I wonder if bob ellis will be there?
Enjoying the podcast - it's nice that it has a broader concept than the last one. The production seems a little better too, no weird digital distortion on the voices. The 'Stuck in my craw' thing is a better in concept than execution. It was great the first week, but has gotten progressively worse each week. The last two were, IMHO, devoid of any insight at all.
Those emails saying that immigrants shouldn't be entitled to food stamps amuse me. Are those racist baboons too stupid to know that Australia doesn't issue food stamps?
FUCK
I don't think the ALP's recent attacks on the Greens are about winning back left votes but actually winning back right ones.
A huge criticism of this current Govt is that they're under the control of the Greens (which is of course utter nonsense), that Bob Brown (whilst he was the Greens leader) was the real PM of Australia (we could only dream) and that he got everything he wanted.
Since Brown left office that rhetoric has softened somewhat and with the by election in Melbourne I think Labor has taken it as an opportunity to scream "See, we hate the Greens just as much as you right wing *obscenities* do!" in the hope that they can claw back some of the votes they've lost to the coalition.

It won't work.
Does Jeremy really wear glasses or does he just carry them around to chew on?
You know how Ford Prefect's towel has nutrients soaked into the corners for emergencies?
It's friday ... and we know what THAT means ...
Nutrients? Or perhaps something a little stronger ...?
"It's friday ... and we know what THAT means ..."
Leadership speculation? No, wait - the other thing: waiting for Jeremy to upload episode #6.
From what I've picked up on twitter, Jeremy is in the middle of a big move, and Dave has been run ragged all week at work. I therefore counsel patience at least in the short term.
Thanks for the update, Jack; I guess I'll have to make do with "reruns". :-/
Are Episodes #1 - #33 of PP available online?
Ah well. I guess they deserve "lives" of their "own". To tide myself over I'm listening to On The Media, which starts with an amusing interview with a (previous) writer for The Onion, about their stories being taken seriously.
"Are Episodes #1 - #33 of PP available online?"
I can't find a feed that contains them all, but you can google them individually to get the MP3s, eg:
"pure poison podcast #2"
Or click this link and work your way forward through the "podcast" category of posts:
http://blogs.crikey.com.au/purepoison/category/podcasts/page/7/
I miss the amusing way Dave used to introduce Jeremy, something a little different every week, based on what was happening in the news/media at the time...
Jaeger, they still might be available in iTunes. I'm not 100% certain on that but it's worth having a look.
It looks like links mean posts end up in moderating, so here's a version without the link:
To get old PPPs, go to the crikey PP blog and click the "Podcast" category. Each thead summary has a link to the MP3, and they go right back back to episode one (there are 7 pages of summaries, so look at the URL and replace the appropriate digit with a '7' and save some clicking :-) ) I can't find an XML feed, but the MP3s are available.
Thanks Miglo and MoC - iTunes doesn't have them, but I think I can automate downloading the MP3's.
